Students will create a drawing with complimentary, analogous, warm and cool colors are and explain how Andy Warhol used them in his art in a written reflection.

The principles of art that are in my artwork are contrast, unity and emphasis. There is contrast where the black cut outs are against the white paper. There is unity because where the black contrasts the white the cut outs are in uniformed places and blend well together. The emphasis is in the piece the were cut out.

Given a closed reading, students will describe Andy Warhol's art style and use of color and create a drawing that depicts multiple color relationships.

Students will (1) summarize in a written reflection how businesses use color to attract customers and (2) create a logo for a fictitious company that employs the connotations of its colors.

Andy Warhol Color Exploration Instructions
Step 1: Pick an actor or actress
Step 2: Apply graphite to the BACK of their portrait
Step 3: Using a pencil, trace their portrait onto a sheet of white paper 8 times.
Step 4: Color each portrait using each of the following color relations
1 w/ analogous colors
1 w/ complimentary colors
1 w/ warm colors
1 w/ cool colors
1 w/ primary colors
1 w/ secondary colors
2 w/ your choice!
Step 5: Write each color relation name on the BACK of each face.
Step 6: Write your name on the back
